China Eastern Airlines will launch regular direct flights linking the Chinese mainland and Taiwan on August 31 to increase frequencies across the Taiwan Strait.
The Shanghai-based carrier will run 29 passenger flights and four cargo flights weekly to link nine mainland cities and Taipei in Taiwan, including 10 weekly flights departing from Shanghai, Shanghai Daily reported, citing sources.
Top negotiators from the mainland and Taiwan reached an agreement in April to allow routine direct flights across the strait.
