Private Chinese carrier OK Air, which hadn’t operated passenger flights for six weeks, resumed flights on January 24. Now the Company operates flight to 8 destinations with passenger workload around 60%.
OK Air stopped all their flights on December 6, 2008 in the result of lawsuit between Company’s major shareholders. January 22, 2009 China Civil Aviation Administration received OK Air’s official request to resume passenger flights. Request was satisfied and the first flight was operated on January 24. Starting from February 1 OK Air operated flights in the following directions: Tianjin-Nanjing, Tianjin-Chengdu, Tianjin-Harbin, Tianjin-Changsha-Kunming, Tianjin-Zhuhai-Sanya, Tianjin-Taiyuan-Chongqing and other.
During Chinese Lunar New Year’s “Golden Week” passenger flight demand is traditionally high, OK Air operated 18 flights. OK Air’s Chairman of board of directors mr. Wang Junjin says that “it was really hard to sell out 60% of tickets in two or three days, but we are not rookies in the market, we are going further. We have detailed development plan for the year of 2009, we are going to develop new destinations and build relationship with strategic partners”.
