In 2004, August 5th new Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has been put in operation. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport situated in the north of Guangzhou, the boundary between the Renhe Town of Baiyun District and Xinhua Town of Huadu District, is about 28Km from the center of Guangzhou- Haizhu Plaza. As the traffic artery in the north of Guangzhou, the new airport expressway connects with Beijing-Zhuhai and Guangzhou-Shenzhen expressways, to swiftly transport passengers and commodities from Pearl Delta Areas to New Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport.

The new airport, featuring reasonable layout, clear plots and distinct functions, is divided into three parts: terminal area, moving area and working area. The area of terminal building is about 350,000 square meters and its handling capacity is 25million person-times and 1million tons of commodities per year. At the typical traffic peak time, it can satisfy the demand of 90 to 100 plane-times to land and take off per hour, as well as transporting 9300 passengers.

The New Baiyun Airport is one of the three major hubs and is the first airport harbor designed and built according to the concept of center hub even more in China. As one of the three major hubs, the new airport greatly improves the rapid collection and distribution of passengers and commodities from Guangzhou and South China.
