China Southern Airline's Shenzhen air cargo operation has taken 30 percent of Shenzhen's market share, and has achieved a 268 percent increase in cargo volume and 337.5 percent revenue boost in April, Logistics Week reported.
Cargo transshipped via Shanghai amounted to 600,100 tonnes, generated a sales revenue of 750,000 yuan (US$109,761), according to a HKSG report.
China Southern's Shenzhen branch took a number of measures to achieve this, among them, analysing specific problems in each route, urging agents to strengthen promotion, enhancing coordination with Air China and Shenzhen Airlines on freight rates to prevent price wars, particularly on routes between Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
Transshipment volume and revenue represent more than half of Shenzhen office's business turnover. Transshipments via Beijing to Amsterdam, Manila and through Urmuqi to Central Asia also accounted much of the branch's cargo business. The Shenzhen operation plans to increase transshipments via Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Shenyang and Harbin and further promote the services to Japan, Seoul and Ho Chi Minh City.
