Maersk Line was named "Best Global Shipping Line" at the 20th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs) ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, 27 April 2006. In addition, Maersk Line was awarded "Best Shipping Line: Asia – Europe".
Held once a year, the AFSCAs are widely recognised by the Asian logistics and shipping industry. Presented by the publication Cargonews Asia, the awards are decided by readers, who vote for their favourite companies in different categories.
Says Mr Thomas O. Jorgensen, Chief Executive for A.P. Moller - Maersk in South East Asia,
"The awards reflect the global nature of the cargo industry serving shippers in Asia. We take this opportunity to thank our customers and business partners for once again voting for us for these awards. We remain committed to delivering the high standards of service, products and performance that our customers have come to expect from us.
"Winning these awards have special meaning for us. The past year has been a year of transition for us, with the entire organisation involved in the integration of P&O Nedlloyd. Amidst this change management, we are truly honoured that our customers' vote of confidence remains with us."
This is the 13th consecutive year that Maersk Line has been awarded the "Best Global Shipping Line" accolade and the 17th consecutive year Maersk Line has been awarded the "Best Shipping Line: Asia – Europe" accolade.
